BEAUTIFUL. SUSTAINABLE. BAMBOO.
Building beautiful structures using sustainable materials worldwide
A LITTLE ABOUT BAMBOO
Bamboo is an incredibly versatile and sustainable material. It grows in almost all continents, requires few resources to grow, can be harvested in only a few years, and when treated properly can withstand pest and weather damage making it an excellent replacement for wood. I’ve worked with several clients from around the world to develop design and building strategies replacing wood in applications that include furniture, fixtures, buildings, bridges and more. It’s possibilities are endless and I’m immensely proud to be part of this movement.

TYPES OF PROJECTS
HOSPITALITY
Hotels, restaurants and destinations are using bamboo both as an architectural material, facade and interior material. Projects include work at Bambu Indah in Bali, Paneco’s Ecolodge Restaurant in Sumatra, and a restaurant learning facility at EGBOK Mission in Cambodia.
FURNISHING
The possibilities with interiors are endless for bamboo. From flooring to furniture, lighting fixtures to facades. Bamboo can be used for internal purposes in regions where it might not be suitable for exteriors or architectural purposes.
RESIDENTIAL
In the right climate zone, bamboo is the perfect material for residential buildings to create beautiful spaces for you and your loved ones. IBUKU, led by Elora Hardy, is building amazing luxury villas and schools in Ubud, Bali. Watch her TEDTalk here.
EDUCATIONAL & NON-PROFIT
Non-profit schools and organisations are also using bamboo for a variety of purposes. The campus at Green School Bali is built primarily out of bamboo, the restaurant learning facility at EGBOK Mission in Siem Reap is designed with bamboo and garden features at Wesley International School in Atlanta also feature bamboo.
ECONOMY
Bamboo has been around for thousands of years and has been used for shelter worldwide. While it’s making its debut in luxury construction now, it’s still part of the solution for affordable housing worldwide. From refugee shelters to prefab and economy homes.
PAVILIONS
From research projects and testing sites to design competitions and temporary exhibits. Bamboo can be combined with modern designs to create a strong impression for audiences across the world. Examples include the award-winning ZCB Bamboo Pavilion in Hong Kong.
